Thames Water operated a site in close proximity to Maidenhead town centre which included extensive former sewerage treatment works and associated infrastructure. Following reappraisal of their assets, they sought to divest the site and realise the value, given its favourable location in relation to the rest of the town. The site was divested to Harrow Estates with a view to submitting a scheme for housing development.
Thames Water asked us to undertake a comprehensive site analysis, including extensive drill holes, trial pits, geophysics and chemical testing. This ensured that a full appraisal was achieved on current site conditions to then proceed to a detailed remediation strategy design.
On completion of the strategy, we then represented the proposed scheme of works to the regulator on behalf of the client. Acting as a conduit between both parties, we were able to create a strong working relationship in order to convey a clear appreciation of the issues within the planning appraisal ahead of full final submission.
Thanks to the strength and quality of the analysis and strategy proposed, the application for 350 units received full planning consent, enabling Harrow Estates to progress to remediation to make the site fit for development.
