A manufacturing company wished to divest part of its site for development. They had originally received an appraisal that recommended putting waste disposal on the site, due to elevated levels of contaminants rendering it unsuitable for remediation and development.
We were called in to provide a second opinion on the contaminant levels and undertook an extensive set of test pits, geotechnical assessments and soil sampling. It was clear from our more forensic and comprehensive analysis that soil and groundwater pollution levels were deemed to be at a level of acceptable risk.
We liaised with the regulator and talked through the site situation, our analysis and risk assessment in order to smooth the path at planning for a positive outcome.
This enabled the client to unlock the site for a land deal, which has subsequently been converted into planning approval for 150+ residential units to be built by well-known West Country builders CG Fry.
